THE LUTYENS CRYPT HALL

Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral

This enormous and breathtaking Crypt was to be part of the largest Cathedral in the World desIgned in the 1930s by SIr Edwin Lutyens. Shortly after the Crypt’s completion however, rising costs and the Second World War forced the scheme’s abandonment, and in its place was constructed the iconic Cathedral we know today, designed by Sir Frederick Gibberd. The original Crypt however, with its breathtaking scale and beautiful vaulted halls, remained hidden beneath as one of Liverpool’s best kept secrets, until a recent £2 million restoration created a new visitor attraction and events space which now stands unparalleled anywhere in the region.

With exclusive access to an adjoining underground car park, plus abundant transport links and accommodation nearby, the ease with which the Crypt can be accessed only adds to its appeal. once inside you will be left enthralled by the sheer scale and beauty of this versatile and well-serviced space where, thanks to our recent £2 million renovation, you will fnd the kind of purposebuilt fxtures and fttings you would normally expect from a modern facility
